Fishing with a Big Pole

So you liked the little video that We posted of us fishing here in Mexico?
We’d like to talk about fishing. Well, as it turns out, fishermen have all sorts of rods, if ya know what I mean? (wink wink) …. They have long ones, short ones, fat ones, pencil thin ones. There’s Heavy ones, light ones and then there’s rods for casting, trolling, jigging, they even fly Rods.. Oh man! …. I could go on about the rods I’ve seen in my lifetime, but we will keep this about fishing.. We learned there were lake rods, stream rods, river rods and salt water rods. Who Knew? Like O.M.G. … That’s just the Rods, We found out there’s lots more to fishing than just men playing with their rods…. Yes, fishing with a big pole.
After learning about the different types of rods, that’s fishing rods I mean! ….They have reels to go with their rods. Who knew there were so many types of reels? Here we go again with a few we discovered, they have the spin cast reel, trolling reels, surf casting reels, offshore reels and fly fishing reels… mmm … now were talking my language I enjoy unzipping a Fly… oops… naughty me…. So we discovered that a fisherman uses many types of Rods and Reels. We think ya have to be a avid fisherman to figure out what ones to use….. it’s not grab and go…
Then there’s the line…. are you kidding me? This is getting complicated…. So ya… they have all types of fish lines and in different weights according to the type of fish your trying to catch. They gauge it by pounds, not the weight of the fisherman. Oh Ya and don’t let the line out to fast or you end up with what they call a birds nest, that’s a fucking mess of line all tingled up… it will only happen once, then you figure out how to use the drag…. that’s the little thing on the reel that stops the line from going out to fast…. Who knew? When that happens toss the rod and go for a beer…. your fishing day is done. Unless you have more line to put on the reel. But that’s another story as well….. When the line is put on the reel you have to wait about 24 hours for the line to get it’s memory…. that’s having the line form to the roll of the reel, otherwise you will have another fucking birds nest… at that point just toss it aside and go buy a fish.
So now we get to the part where a fish actually is stupid enough to bite on a hook…. ya here we go again, there’s way to many types of hooks to mention, so here’s a few we’re familiar with…. the worm hook, we actually have to touch the worm and thread it on the hook … of course we wash our hands after touching the wiggling thing, Then there’s the bate hook and the jig hook…. And get this! there’s hooks you have to snip off the barb, barbless hooks that’s the little thing that holds the stupid fish on the hook, so without the barb the fish says, I’m outta here asshole…. and off it goes…. swimming to see another day….. Now that’s like a kick in the balls…. or so I’ve heard from someone who says, ” you should have seen the one that got away… LOL…. ya it was this big.”
Once you figure out what rod, reel and hook to use, there’s these expensive things called lures. Oh, I could go on about the lures I’ve used over the years to catch a fisherman, but that’s another story all together…. Back to fishing lures… These things come in all sizes and shapes, some are called plugs, croc, flatfish and hoochie …. Are you kidding me? Plugs and Hoochie?…. I’ll have to do a little research on these things… Here’s a tip…I found out the hard way….. never loose someone’s lure, it really pisses them off. Because It’s always their favorite one. There’s lots more we need to learn about fishing, and when we do, we’ll post it here for you.
